Art

The visual arts curriculum in District 196 makes valuable connections to the individual, to society and to culture. In the production and contemplation of artworks, we can understand ourselves and the world around us. Learning through the visual arts develops creative problem-solving skills as students face issues that often have multiple solutions. Art brings individuals together to share feelings, beliefs and values and develop a sense of community.

At Pinewood we are fortunate to also bring in a little STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) as we have merged our Art and STEAM programs together. The students receive Art/STEAM for 50 minutes every three or four days.  Art concepts and techniques are emphasized and STEAM connections are made whenever applicable.
